Asset Identification

IAMSL specializes in field checking databases ahead of inspection programmes.

Using handheld devices with custom-built software, pole attributes are updated quickly and accurately. The network owner can then be confident that all assets are included in the inspection programme.

A critical component of any condition assessment programme is ensuring that all of a company's assets are correctly recorded in its ownership database. Lines companies generally own many thousands of poles which have been installed over a long period of time.

The systems for recording these assets have changed considerably over the years – from relatively simple paper based records to the complex Geographic Information Systems (GIS) which are commonplace today.

Add to this the fact that many poles have shared use (council streetlights, telecommunication companies and possibly private ownership). Consequently, an ownership database may have errors and omissions that can be corrected with IAMSL's Asset Identification Inspections.
